The Alexandré Mouton House/Lafayette Museum and the Lafayette Public Library System present Guest Speaker, Maida Owens, Folklife Program Director and cultural anthropologist, specializing in Louisiana traditional cultures. She will talk about her book “Swapping Stories-Folktales from Louisiana.” Hundreds of storytellers were interviewed in the compilation of this book published in 1997.
A video documentary film produced by PBS under her direction, also titled “Swapping Stories” will be shown prior to the lecture. The film features some of the finest storytellers identified in this folklife project.
